About the contest

Development of an unmanned vehicle (UV) capable of moving in an autonomous mode in winter and at different times of the day, in compliance with the traffic regulations of the Russian Federation (hereinafter referred to as "Traffic rules") under conditions of urban infrastructure, possibly with no road markings, under low visibility of the roadway, in the presence of traffic and hindrance to traffic, at an average driver's level.

PRIZE PURSE*
₽175
mln

The award is paid out from the federal budget and may only be paid to Russian entities and individuals — tax residents of the Russian Federation.

TASK

TO DEVELOP A DRIVERLESS CAR
mounted on a mechanical vehicle created on the basis of wheeled vehicles of categories N1, M1, M2 manufactured by an industrial enterprise or a self-made wheeled ground biaxial mechanical vehicle that may be used on public roads, with a weight ranging from 700 kg to 3.5 tons, width 1.2-3 m, height from 1.2 to 3.6 m, length 2-7 m, equipped with an automatic autonomous control system.

TECHNOLOGICAL BARRIER

Driving of an unmanned vehicle in an autonomous winter mode and at different times of the day, in compliance with the traffic regulations under conditions of urban infrastructure, possibly with no road markings, under low visibility of the roadway, in the presence of traffic and hindrance to traffic, at an average driver's speed and safety level.

TO OVERCOME THE BARRIER

The teams should meet the challenges
Tough driving conditions
Tough driving conditions
Driving in poor visibility and under severe weather conditions and confident responding to static and dynamic obstacles
High-quality prediction
High-quality prediction
Assessment of the surroundings while considering the movements of other road users and taking the necessary actions based on these data
Confident positioning
Confident positioning
Positioning of unmanned vehicle (UV) while driving in the urban and suburban setting and assessment of the condition of the surrounding infrastructure

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

Compliance with traffic rules
Compliance with traffic rules
Violation of traffic rules will add penalty minutes
Testing is carried out in spring-winter times
Testing is carried out in spring-winter times
The major challenge - high variability of testing conditions. The required conditions (fog, snow, black ice) are created as necessary
Sustainable operation of the system at different times of the day
Sustainable operation of the system at different times of the day
A three-hour route covers different times of the day
Obstacles on route
Obstacles on route
The UV route may face obstacles (static, dynamic) which should be bypassed by the UV without any traffic violations

FAQ

Is funding available to participate in the contest?

One of the main rules of all technological contests in the world is the independent financing of development by the contest's participant. The organizers provide no financing, but the participant may invite any investors to participate in financing and use any production capacities of their partners.
